Sony has announced a series of transparent controllers and console covers as part of its new Prism Collection, featuring three colourful designs for the PlayStation 5.

The Prism Collection includes DualSense wireless controllers and matching PS5 console covers in Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. All three feature translucent finishes that let you glimpse the hardware beneath their glossy exteriors.

In Canada, the new DualSense controllers will cost $109.99, while the matching PS5 console covers are $94.99. The collection launches February 4, 2027, with pre-orders opening November 10, 2026, through participating retailers. In available regions, eager customers can go through PlayStation’s direct storefront.

Sony says the designs draw inspiration from the transparent gaming accessories popular during the late 1990s, reimagined for the PS5’s more contemporary appearance. “We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers,” said Leo Cardoso from PlayStation’s Colour, Material and Finish design team. “We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.”

Each colour offers a different look. Flare Orange features a vibrant finish that takes on a slightly rosy appearance where the transparent materials overlap. Emerald Green introduces a deeper hunter-green tone, while Graphite Gray offers a more understated, storm-grey appearance.

The controllers also feature a transparent rear shell and a metallic centre panel, letting parts of the DualSense’s internal design remain visible. PlayStation experimented with transparent console covers recently, with its Marvel’s Wolverine design.

The announcement continues Sony’s approach of offering new ways to personalize its hardware through limited-edition DualSense controllers and PlayStation accessories. Unlike previous themed accessories tied to specific games, the Prism Collection focuses entirely on colour and design.

Sony notes that availability may vary by region, and select retailers offer matching console covers in limited quantities.
