Google’s Opal AI Tool Lets Anyone Build Apps Without Code

Google has just announced the launch of Opal, a no‑code AI mini‑app builder that uses natural language and visual workflows to build, edit, and share multi‑step apps.

Opal Google.

Launched in a US‑only public beta, Opal guides users through building multi‑step applications. Simply describe the app logic in plain English, and the platform will automatically organize prompts, model calls, and tools into an editable visual workflow.

Once generated, workflows are fully interactive. Users can click on each step to view or tweak the underlying prompt, and manually add or modify elements using Opal’s toolbar. This blend of natural language commands and visual editing gives users full control over the app’s behavior without writing code.

A live demo gallery provides starter templates that can be customized or remixed for specific use cases. When an app is ready, users can publish it and share a link with anyone holding a Google account, making collaboration and feedback seamless.

Internal testing from Google product leaders highlights how Opal is changing habits. Some developers now use Opal to create micro‑apps on the fly rather than asking for one‑off responses in chat interfaces, streamlining workflows especially when integrating new Google AI models.

Opal marks Google’s entry into the growing “vibe‑coding” movement, where platform users describe their desired outcome and the tool constructs the process. This positions Google alongside other tech firms reshaping the no‑code space, including Canva, Figma, Replit, Lovable, and Cursor.

While more developer‑centric tools like AI Studio remain part of Google’s portfolio, Opal targets a broader audience, those looking to rapidly test ideas or build custom assistants and utilities without writing code.

For those eager to experiment, Opal represents an exciting proof of concept, a future in which users can go from prompt to publishable mini‑application within minutes.
