First Foldable iPhone CAD Images Surface, Showing Potential Design

The first 3D CAD model images of the foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro series has supposedly surfaced. Leaker Sonny Dickson shared images online of the three devices.

On X (formerly Twitter), Dickson shared an image that supposedly reflects the designs of the foldable iPhone as well as the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The leaker goes on to state that the image reflects “what the final size” of the three devices will be.

CAD models are 3D dummy units used to represent the design of a device’s final build. They are primarily made to share with accessory makers, allowing them to begin developing cases before an official announcement.

Looking at the CAD designs, the foldable iPhone looks entirely new from a design perspective. Apple’s take appears to use a passport-like design with curved corners. It also features a horizontal camera bar with only two lenses in the top-left corner. Uniquely, the bar does not extend the full width of the rear side of the device. The front-facing display appears to offer minimal bezels, which is a great sign.

The foldable iPhone is believed to have a 7.8-inch inner display with a supported 4:3 aspect ratio. The outer display has been reported to be 5.5 inches. The device is widely believed to ditch Face ID in favour of Touch ID via a side button. Pricing is claimed to be around $2,000 US ($2,718 CAD).

It appears Apple is maintaining the same camera array as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max support three cameras once again. It also appears that Apple is introducing a smaller Dynamic Island, as shown in the images. Aside from that, there aren’t too many differences from its predecessor that we can pick up on.

Apple is expected to reveal its foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro series later this year in the fall.
