Apple Confirms C1 Modem Didn’t Affect iPhone 16e MagSafe Omission

Apple has confirmed that the use of the C1 modem isn’t the reason why the company chose to not include MagSafe charging on the iPhone 16e.
Following the announcement of the iPhone 16e, it was discovered that the device only offers wireless charging via Qi chargers. Unfortunately, the iPhone 16e does not support MagSafe charging and many began speculating whether this was due to the introduction of the new C1 modem that Apple is utilizing. Now, we’ve gotten some clarity.
Confirming with MacWorld, Apple has confirmed that while iPhone 16e does not support MagSafe charging, the use of the C1 modem “is not responsible for the decision.” Unfortunately, the company did not clarify the reason as to why MagSafe isn’t featured.
This week, Apple revealed its new iPhone 16e, the new mid-range replacement for the iPhone SE 3. The device features a 6.1-inch display, a singular 48-megapixel 2-in-1 camera with a 2x optical zoom, Apple A18 chipset and Apple Intelligence features. It also incorporates Apple’s first-ever C1 modem for improved 5G connectivity. Apple also claimed the device supports 26 hours of video playback on its battery. However, there was one glaring omission, MagSafe charging.
Unlike the iPhone 16 counterparts, the iPhone 16e does not support any MagSafe charging. With Qi charging, Apple states you’ll receive charging of up to 7.5W, which is slower than MagSafe’s 25W for iPhone 16. Older models of the iPhone that do support Apple MagSafe support 15W charging. Additionally, Qi2, which is based on MagSafe technology, supports 15W charging as well.
Although there could likely be MagSafe cases made for iPhone 16e, it’s not advised that users nab one for themselves. This could introduce connectivity issues or worse yet, impact the device’s battery long-term.
iPhone 16e is now available to preorder via Apple’s website. In Canada, the new device starts at $899 and launches in black and white colourways.

Ok but people used the magasfe tech for more then just charging! They used it for assecories like car dock, phone grips, etc! So alot of iphone users that have purchased these items to use with magsafe for there past iphones can not use it with the 16e, which it why a lot of people are upset with apple removing it from this phone!
